About Digital Triage
One person.
Big opinions.
Digital Triage is a strictly solo operation. No account managers, no junior associates learning on your wallet, and absolutely no corporate buzzwords. Just me, doing the work.
The Origin Story
How it
started.
First and foremost, I am a business owner. For years, I watched in quiet despair as perfectly smart companies hid their brilliance behind painfully generic websites.
I witnessed the same exhausting routine play out again and again. You know the drill. Endless strategy workshops. Heroic quantities of pastel sticky notes. A consultant asking what kind of tree your brand would be in a parallel universe. And after all that agonising, the final website drops, and it looks suspiciously like everybody else out there. Plenty of process. Very little point. And I sat in those meetings, nodded, and carried on regardless.
You might wonder how I ended up designing websites. It is a completely illogical leap. I actually cut my teeth in the first aid and medical industry. I spent my early days dealing with things that actually mattered, which gave me a fairly grounded perspective on what constitutes a real emergency. A server going down is a nuisance. A severed limb and which tourniquet to use is a problem. I eventually branched out and opened my own business in the medical sector. Running it taught me what actual business owners need from their digital presence, which is usually just a site that works, looks good, and does not require a postgraduate degree to update.
Of course, building businesses requires a serious support system. By support system, I mean the incredibly tolerant people around me. They possess the patience of absolute saints. They have nodded politely through dinners interrupted by relentless tech talk, the latest drone debates, and business ideas generated entirely on a whim. They regularly endure me staring into space and muttering about finding a niche market before I inevitably ask whether buying yet another obscure domain name is a sensible idea. I owe them everything.
Now, if you are still reading this, congratulations. I will be entirely honest with you. I am actively using filler text right now to expand this section because the layout requires a massive wall of text to look balanced (I know I said I don't, but I did because I can). If you have genuinely stayed with me through this incredibly self indulgent monologue, you absolutely deserve a brew.
Go pop the kettle on.
Get the good biscuits out.
I can wait.
Are you back? Excellent. Let me wrap this up.
I built this business to be a place where the work is direct and the decisions are rapid. It is a place where even the most bizarre idea from the accounts department gets a fair and equitable hearing. Yes, this design studio technically began its life in the corner of a tragically identical Costa coffee shop, over a large latte. But that does not mean you should not trust me with your brand. If anything, my ability to produce creative brilliance under those aggressively fluorescent bulbs proves my immense tolerance for difficult lighting.
I survived the sticky notes. I survived the medical industry. I can definitely build your website.
Buzzwords and phrases, who needs them!
Who you'll
talk to.
No middle-men. No translation layers. When you email me, you speak to the person actually building your website.
The direction.
I work out what the website needs to do, what visitors need to find, and what can be removed without anybody holding a small memorial service for it.
The design.
Distinctive layouts, strong typography and a sensible colour palette. Not a template wearing your logo like a borrowed name badge.
The build.
Clean, responsive code that holds together on every sensible screen and quite a few questionable ones. Then I launch it, host it and remain available after everybody has stopped saying “go live”.
The Philosophy
Less filler.
More feeling.
I do not believe in adding things just because I can. A video background of earnest people pointing at a whiteboard will not make your software sell, nor will a banner full of empty corporate buzzwords sell you a web design service (though one with those buzzwords crossed out just might). What will help is a clear value proposition, legible text, and a button that actually does what it says it does.
I am highly opinionated because you are paying me for my opinion. If you want a yes-man, there are plenty of very expensive agencies in London who will happily validate your worst ideas. If you want a website that actually works, you come to me.
Where I work
Based in Cheshire.
Working across the UK.
My office is in Congleton, Cheshire. If you are a local business in the North West or the Midlands, I know the regional market well.
However, because it is the 21st century and nobody actually wants to commute to a boardroom just to look at a laptop screen together, I operate entirely remotely. I build websites for businesses across the entire UK. I really don't mind if you are in Cornwall, Cardiff, or the Scottish Highlands and as long as your invoices are paid in sterling, and you reply to your emails, we can work together.
